I don’t have a horse, I have an oversized dog.

It’s been a rough week.  Our Great Dane Lexi had to be put down on Tuesday and now I can’t pull in the driveway without crying.  This dog was the definition of a gentle giant.  She was ten, so in a breed with a life expectancy of six to eight, this shouldn’t have been unexpected, but she literally went from fine all day to lying on the floor with no appetite.  She spent her last few days at the small animal hospital, and I didn’t get to say goodbye.
We also lost a horse Sunday morning, completely unexpectedly.  She was maybe 14, came into the barn to eat her grain looking fine but was dead half an hour later.  The vet said she probably had a blood clot or burst blood vessel in her lungs.
